In Santa Clara there is a place where everyone that comes for the first time to this city visit. This place is the Memorial Ché Guevara. This city is full of his prints and while you are walking during your vacation around its streets, some of these prints can come out of the blue. This Complex was founded on December 28 1988 in commemoration of the thirty anniversary of Santa Clara's Battle. It is integrated by the Square and the Tribune that includes the Sculptural Group Monumentario whose planner was the architect Jorge Cao Campos and the sculptor José of Lázaro Bencomo (Delarra). The Museum was projected by the architect Blanca Hernández Guivernau, the Museography was in charge of the architect José Ramón Linares Ferrera, main specialist of Museography of the National Council of Cultural Patrimony; and the Museology was responsibility of the specialists' of the Museum of the Revolution and of the Museum Major Ernesto Ché Guevara. The Memorial, place where the Commandant Ernesto Ché Guevara remains and his partners rest, was inaugurated on October 17, 1997 and projected by the architects Blanca Hernández Guivernau and Jorge Cao Campos. The permanent exhibition of the museum constitutes a chronological journey for the life and work of the Heroic Guerilla fighter. Different stages like the childhood, the adolescence and youth are approached, being made emphasis in the family mark where he was formed. The visitor also has contact with the evolution of his revolutionary thought. The bond that had with the Cuban revolutionary movement is shown through the stay in Mexico and the later entrance to the Movement 26th of July that took him to be expeditionary of the Granma yacht, a guerilla fighter of the Sierra Maestra, leader next to Camilo Cienfuegos of the invasion to occident and fundamental author of Santa Clara's Battle in December of 1958. One can also know the Ché like manufacturer of the Socialism in Cuba and appreciate the validity and projection of his figure. Among the more important objects exposed stand out: a gun case, clock bracelet, pipe, uniform, bulb for mate, beret and jacket belonging to the Ché; the title of the Cuban nationality, notes signed by the Ché when he was president of the National Bank of Cuba, the telephone used during the Campaign of The Villa, the binoculars among others. Also, there are the niches where the remains of the Ché and his fallen partners rest in the internationalist mission in Bolivia. On October 17, 1997, the Cuban president Fidel Castro spoke in the main ceremony for the 30 anniversary of the fall in action of Ché Guevara, during which his remains and those of other six combatants from Bolivia, Cuba and Peru were deposited in the memorial. From that moment on, this pace has been visited by many people Cubans and foreigners who admire him and want to know more about his life.
